After months of speculation, Jannik Sinner has finally confirmed that he and Darren Cahill will no longer work together.
Cahill was one of the masterminds behind Sinner’s success as the pair, along with Simone Vagnozzi, claimed five Grand Slam titles together.
The Australian coach, who has also worked with Andre Agassi and Simona Halep, was rumoured to step down at the end of the year and retire from tennis coaching and now Sinner has confirmed the news.
In a heartfelt Instagram message, Sinner said: “When we started working together in 2022, I was just an Italian guy full of questions. You never gave me all the answers, you simply helped me find them.

“You came in as one of my coaches and quickly became much more: someone I could believe in, someone I could trust. A friend.
We’ve been through so much together. You told me you’d stop after 2025.
“And somehow, I couldn’t seem to get rid of you… What I’ll remember most aren’t the trophies, but what was around them: the long hours on the training pitch, the flights, the dinners, the laughter. Even the days when everything seemed heavy. You were there. Always.
“I always knew I was in good hands. With you, we were more than a team. You taught me a lot, that tennis is important, but it’s not everything; that being a good player starts with being a good person. And that complicated things can be simple. I hope I taught you something too. Maybe… like hitting a golf ball!
“I’ll miss looking up after a big point and seeing you in my box. This season didn’t end the way we wanted, but that doesn’t change what we did. Or what these years mean to me.
“To your family: Thank you for sharing Darren with us. I know the sacrifice it took, and I don’t take it for granted. A huge part of who I am, as a player and as a person, is thanks to you. I won’t forget a single day of these five seasons. Thank you, friend, for everything. It’s been a privilege.”
Sinner’s message has been coupled by a farewell post from Vagnozzi on Instagram too.
“Thank you for everything, my friend,” wrote the Italian coach. “It’s been a fantastic 5 years, full of satisfaction and success, but also respect and friendship!
“With you by my side, I’ve become a better coach! I know this isn’t goodbye, because we’ll always be a family, a family everywhere—except on a golf course!!! I wish you the best for everything that lies ahead!!! see you soon Mate!!!!”
In a press release coupled with the Instagram post from Sinner, he has also confirmed that he will work with Magnus Norman in the 2027 season.
Norman worked with Stan Wawrinka for much of his career, including his three Grand Slam winning triumphs. The Swedish coach has also worked with Thomas Johansson and Robin Soderling in his career.
Sinner and Norman’s first tournament together is expected to be the 2027 Australian Open, as Sinner is looking to win his third Grand Slam crown in Melbourne.
The star reached the semifinals of the event in 2026, where he was beaten by Novak Djokovic.
