Arthur Fils is finally making his way up the ATP Rankings again following his injury nightmare with the Frenchman set to reach a new career high following his run to the Cincinnati Open final.
The 22-year-old peaked at No 14 ahead of the 2025 French Open with his rise coming on the back of reaching three consecutive ATP Masters 1000 quarter-finals, but then disaster struck at his home Grand Slam as he picked up a back injury and had to withdraw ahead of his third-round match.
The rising star was forced to miss Wimbledon and, after a failed comeback attempt at the Canadian Open, he also pulled out of the US Open and missed the remainder of the season.
Fils then made a delayed start to the 2026 campaign as he withdrew from the Australian Open before finally making his debut at the Open Occitanie in February, but by then he had slipped out of the top 40.

He started finding form again at the Qatar Open, finishing runner-up to Carlos Alcaraz, before winning the Barcelona Open to return to the top 20, but his injury woes returned as he was forced to withdraw from the French Open.
Fast forward three months and the good times are back as he has reached his maiden ATP Masters 1000 final with a confident 6-3, 6-4 win over Flavio Coblli.
“I was very happy with the performance,” the Frenchman said after his win. “I started pretty slow. I was a bit tight, but I think from 4-3 in the first set when I won those long rallies, just the momentum came my way and I felt so much better.
“Especially on the serve, because in the first couple of games I didn’t serve good at all, and then after it was very good. So I’m very happy with the performance.”
ATP Rankings Boost
Fils started the Cincinnati Open at No 21 in the rankings as he earned a three-place jump following his run to the quarter-final of the Canadian Open.
Having missed last year’s Cincinnati Open due to injury, Fils doesn’t have any points to defend at the event so every single point he picks up this year will go directly to his overall total.
He has already earned 650 points with his run to the final wit his tally now standing at 2,790. That’s good enough for a 10-place surge to No 11 – a new career high – in the Live ATP Rankings.
The French star faces Frances Tiafoe in the final with the American +11 to No 12 after his win over Brandon Nakashima, moving to 2,680 points.
The two will not only battle it out for the Cincinnati Open title, but also for the 11th spot as Tiafoe will move ahead of Fils in the rankings if he wins the trophy.
