Alex Eala’s time at the Canadian Open came to an abrupt end as she was defeated in straight sets by Belinda Bencic.

The Swiss star quickly dispatched Eala, dropping just four games to win 6-4, 6-0 to confirm her place in the quarter finals of the Masters event.

Eala has been in brilliant form, but the sheer amount of tennis she has played this summer clearly started to take its toll against Bencic.

The star will not have many days off until the start of the Cincinnati Open, which is set to begin Saturday, 15th August.

However, the 21-year-old has confirmed plans to take a few days off between the two Masters events and she’s revealed exactly what she wants to do.

Speaking in her post-match press conference at the Canadian Open, Eala said: “I definitely will take maybe two days off, a day or two. I do have to travel to Cincinnati. I need to get a haircut. I haven’t gotten a haircut in a while. My nails are grown out.

“So, yeah, I’ll do a couple things, just to get my mind off tennis. I think Toronto’s a great place to do that. Yeah, reunite maybe with some friends in Cincinnati, and just try to have fun.

“I’ll be back on court like that, so I got to enjoy what I have,” she continued. “I got to enjoy the time that I have that I’m not on court.”

Eala has given herself a very busy schedule over the North American swing as she will head to the US Open swiftly following the conclusion of the Cincinnati Open.

Following the US Open, the only tournament Eala has signed up for currently is the Singapore Open, which begins on the 21st September. The star has never played the main draw of the WTA event before, so she has another perfect opportunity to earn more ranking points.

Following her performances at the Canadian Open, Eala has picked up 110 WTA Tour ranking points. She stays as the world No 20, just 240 points behind Ekaterina Alexandrova as the world No 19.

Alexandrova does, however, have the chance to extend her lead over the Filipina star. She is still in the Canadian Open and will play Elina Svitolina in the quarter finals of the event, so she could earn yet more ranking points.

Eala also didn’t play the Cincinnati Open last year, so she has another opportunity to make more ground up on her WTA rivals and continue to climb the rankings.
