Alex Eala has quickly emerged as the biggest star in women’s tennis after a few weeks that have taken her from a pretender to a contender for the biggest prizes in the game.
Eala has captured headlines and built up a huge global fan base after a run last-16 at Wimbledon that included a win against defending champion Iga Swiatek, before she backed that up by winning her first WTA Tour title in Washington last week.
Here, we look at the commercial opportunities that look certain to open up for Eala if she continues her success on the court.
NIKE DEAL
Eala is signed up with Nike for her clothing deal and that is almost certain to be renewed on improved terms with the sportswear giant.
Her association with the Rafael Nadal Academy may have been one of the reasons why she is signed up with Nike, as the player whose name is on her training base was a long-time brand ambassador for the company famous for their tick logo.
With Eala now getting put on all the big show courts and given likely to get placed on high-profile night sessions in upcoming events including the US Open, Nike will want to ensure they remain associated with this rising superstar.

RADUCANU EFFECT
Emma Raducanu secured a host of sponsorship deals after her US Open win five years ago, with her appeal across several markets adding to her value.
The Brit had Chinese heritage and that appealed to sponsors who are always attracted by the opportunity to reach out to the Asian market.
Now Eala has a chance to take that to the next level as her fanbase in the Philippines is set to spread well beyond her homeland.
The deals Eala may have been offered a few weeks ago may have an extra zero on them now and that appeal is certain to rise if she continues to win.
CURRENT SPONSORS
She already has deals with Globe Telecom, Babolat, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Milo Philippines and Locally Juice and has just been snapped up by Marriott Bonvoy, the award-winning travel program of Marriott International and Official Hotel Partner of the Australian Open.
That Marriott deal is evidence that companies are scrambling to get in on the Eala story as they can see the potential of what lies ahead.
WHAT ABOUT THE NUMBERS
Raducanu recently signed a deal with Uniqlo that is said to be worth around $3.5m-a-year and for a player who was never likely to play too many matches in a season due to injury issues, that sets a marker for what to expect.
Eala could expect to command more than that figure if she renews with Nike and she can also expect to get more than Raducanu for big sponsorship deals at this moment as she is the most talked-about player in women’s tennis.
Her appeal to companies in the Philippines will be huge and the team advising her will need to be wise to ensure they don’t cash in like Raducanu did, with the number of sponsors she took on adding huge weight of expectations on her career.

WHAT’S IT ALL WORTH?
Coco Gauff earns an estimated $23 million annually from off-court endorsements, making her the world’s highest-earning female athlete and now she may have a rival to that crown.
Eala may need to add a Grand Slam title to her record to join Gauff at the top of the sponsors league, but she will already be getting life-changing offers and should expect to earn $10m in endorsement deals from this point forward.
