As has become tradition, the North American Masters double of the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Open has proved very uninteresting to the biggest players in the sport.
The likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic all made the decision to skip the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Open draw has been similarly affected by top stars deciding not to play.
Novak Djokovic will play in Cincinnati for the first time since 2023, but Carlos Alcaraz and now Jannik Sinner have confirmed they will not play.
The world No 1 has been kept out with a knee injury, after having several tests at an Italian medical centre in the run up to the Masters tournament.

In a statement sent via the Cincinnati Open, Sinner said: “After consulting with my doctors and my team, I have to announce that I need to withdraw from the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati.
“My right knee has been bothering me, and even though we have been working hard with my medical team, I have to accept that I’m not ready to compete yet.
“I’m very disappointed not to be able to play in Cincinnati and wish Bob [Moran] and his whole team a great and successful event. I can’t wait to be back next year, and I’m now focusing on getting ready for the US Open.”
Sinner and Alcaraz will be joined by Alexander Bublik, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Sebastian Korda, Ethan Quinn, and Holger Rune as seven top stars have confirmed they won’t play in the men’s draw.

- Alexander Bublik (world No 11) – replaced by Marton Fucsovics
- Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (world No 25) – replaced by Adam Walton

- Ethan Quinn (world No 51) – replaced by Lorenzo Sonego
- Holger Rune (world No 99) – replaced by Daniel Merida
- Jannik Sinner (world No 1) – replaced by Stefanos Tsitsipas
As for the WTA Tour side of the Masters event, Victoria Mboko and Emma Raducanu’s injuries have kept them out of the Masters event, and they are both likely to miss the US Open.
Elsewhere the likes of Jasmine Paolini, Hailey Baptiste and Jacqueline Cristian have all confirmed they will not be playing the Ohio tournament.

The latest players to drop out are Karolina Muchova, who had surgery after reaching the Wimbledon final, and Lois Boisson, who has been dealing with a myriad of injuries since her breakout performance at Roland Garros in 2025.
