The start of the 2026 Cincinnati Open is less than a week away, and the number of players to withdraw has climbed to 11 across both draws.

Main draw action in Cincinnati will take place from Thursday, 13 August to Sunday, 23 August at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

The Cincinnati Open is the second joint ATP/WTA 1000 tournament of the North American hard-court season following the Canadian Open.

Carlos Alcaraz and Ig Swiatek were the respective men’s and women’s singles champions in Cincinnati in 2025.

World No 2 Alcaraz, though, will not defend his title as he is one of six men who has pulled out of the Masters event.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion has not played since April due to a right wrist injury.

Holger Rune and Jasmine Paolini, who have each achieved a career-high ranking position of world No 4, will both miss Cincinnati.

Paolini, who was a runner-up to Swiatek in Cincinnati last year, also missed the Canadian Open.

In a post on Instagram, the two-time Grand Slam finalist wrote: “We’ve decided that I won’t be in Cincinnati either,” Paolini began her statement on Instagram.

“After last year’s final, I was really looking forward to being back, but now the focus is on 100% being ready for the US Open and the rest of the season. Thank you for your support.”

Rune, meanwhile, has once delayed his comeback from the Achilles injury he sustained in October last year.
