Carlos Alcaraz has finally confirmed that he will be returning to action at the US Open, following a five-month absence from the ATP Tour.
The Spaniard’s wrist injury has derailed most of his season, with the star missing several Masters events, as well as Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
However, Alcaraz can now hopefully put his injury woes behind him and return back to his best for the final Grand Slam of the year at Flushing Meadows.
Alcaraz has already built up a pretty hectic schedule for his return, with several tournaments already ear-marked by the world No 3.
The Spaniard will play the Laver Cup 12 days after the US Open final, as he looks to try and help Team Europe win their title back from Team World.

Alcaraz will play alongside Flavio Cobolli, Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, Rafael Jodar, and Jakub Mensik against a team consisting of Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, Alexander Bublik, Learner Tien, Alex de Minaur, and Tommy Paul at The O2 Arena in London.
The world No 3 has already signed up for the Japan Open in Tokyo, where he will be the defending champion, and there are a number of mandatory events at the end of the year that Alcaraz will play.
That includes the Shanghai Masters and the Paris Masters, two events Alcaraz is yet to win in his already illustrious tennis career.
Alcaraz is also confirmed to play two other exhibition events following the Laver Cup, at the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia and the Sao Paulo Super Match in Brazil.
The Six Kings Slam will see Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Zverev, Fritz, and de Minaur compete for $6 million on the Netflix-broadcasted event.
At the Sao Paulo Super Match, Alcaraz will head to Brazil once the season is finished to play an exhibition match against Joao Fonseca.
Elsewhere, Alcaraz is all-but-confirmed to be qualified for the ATP Finals at the end of the year, which is another tournament the Spaniard is yet to win.
All in all, it’s a very busy time for the world No 3, but he will surely be champing at the bit to get back to competitive tennis after such a long time away from the sport.
Alcaraz’s five months away from the ATP Tour was the longest he has ever spent away from tennis.
