Alex Eala’s immense popularity on the WTA Tour has one of the standout moments of 2026 so far, as the Filipina star has proved she has ardent fans all over the world.
Ealamania truly begin at the Australian Open earlier this year, when queues of fans waited outside a packed-out stadium at the Grand Slam in Melbourne.
She also proved very popular on the Middle Eastern swing, particularly in Abu Dhabi and the Qatar Open, as well as at Wimbledon on the grass.
Her popularity seemed to increase during the North American hardcourt swing, particularly at the Washington Open, where she won the first WTA Tour title of her career.
The star also sold out every one of her matches at the Canadian Open and prices surged for Eala’s match against Amanda Anisimova at the Cincinnati Open.

According to Jessica Schiffer, of Hard Court, “Nike released a $42 black t-shirt for Alex Eala this morning that’s already sold out. For comparison, all of its other new player merch is still available.”
It’s worth noting that the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Aryna Sabalenka all are Nike athletes, and their merchandise is still readily available on the brand’s official store.
Eala is well on her way to becoming the biggest star in tennis, if she is not already that, and she is starting to produce the results to match her popularity.
The star has been sensational from Wimbledon onwards, where she has picked up 11 victories and three defeats from four tournaments since SW19.
She reached the fourth round of Wimbledon, won the Washington Open, got to the round of 16 of the Canadian Open, and the third round of the Cincinnati Open.
She’s put herself in a position to be a genuine dark horse for the US Open, but one thing is for certain at the Flushing Meadows event: she will be absolutely must-see.
The US Open has already capitalised on her popularity too, by getting the star to play the Mixed Doubles event alongside Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The pair have received a wildcard into the event and they will compete against the likes of Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz.
As well as playing in the Mixed Doubles, Eala will also be playing an exhibition singles match during the US Open’s ‘Opening Week’, against her friend Iva Jovic.
Eala will very likely be positioned on Arthur Ashe or Louis Armstrong for all of her matches in the main draw of the singles too, such is her current popularity.
