Tennis fans have reacted after another ball kid at the Paris Masters was injured during a Taylor Fritz match this week.

In Fritz‘s last-16 win over Arthur Fils at the last Masters 1000 event of the 2026 season, the American accidentally injured a ball girl with a powerful serve early in the match.

The 29-year-old’s first delivery was called out, but the ball ricocheted off the wall and hit the young girl in the face. Clearly shaken by the incident, the youngster broke down in tears.

French home favourite Fils wasted no time at all in checking on her, before guiding her to a court official, who led her from the arena.

The 22-year-old was widely praised for his compassion by fans in the stands and on social media, but Fritz also approached the net and tried to enquire about her welfare.

And then again on Friday night, another ball girl was hurt, this time in Fritz’s quarter-final clash with Carlos Alcaraz.

After offering some tennis balls, the young girl ran back to her corner but then suffered a nasty-looking fall in her haste to not disrupt the contest. She too began crying and was led away from the centre court.

Sky Sports commentator Adam Fielder said, “What’s happened here? That is back-to-back Taylor Fritz matches that a ball girl has got injured. We hope she’s alright.”

And co-commentator Daniela Hantuchova guessed that the ball girl had twisted her ankle and mused that it was in the same corner as the incident from Thursday night.

The moment was picked up by a number of tennis fans on X, with one tweeting, “Second Fritz match in a row that a ball girl gets hurt. Hope she is okay.”

Another person quipped, “No ball girl is safe in a Fritz match these days,” while someone else joked, “Fritz sacrificed another ball girl. Good luck, Alcaraz; this guy is doing witchcraft.”

After a brief disruption, the match continued between the two tennis heavyweights. Heading into this encounter, Alcaraz held a 6-1 head-to-head record against Fritz, with the American’s sole win coming back at last year’s Davis Cup.
